Ryan Dye will share some history of the Hemingway Center and the 1953 Austin Organ, Opus 2191 of 44 ranks. There will be opportunity to go into the easily accessible pipe chambers and play the instrument. Bring your music and organ shoes! Sadly, this unique pipe organ has received little attention over the past 2-3 decades. However, there has been a renewed interest in the instrument with organ lessons once again being offered through the Department of Music and recent concerts by several notable Juilliard artists - Paul Jacobs, Raphael Vogel, and Amelie Held. Plans are also being discussed for of a major renovation to the building and organ in the near future.
